The exhibition, held in an unconventional venue 5 minutes drive from Art Dubai, Madinat Jumeriah, will feature artwork by 20 emerging Iranian artists. MOP CAP is a worldwide search for the next generation of contemporary Iranian visual artists. Held in a residential villa, five minutes drive from Art Dubai Madinat Jumeirah, the MOP CAP 2015 Shortlist Exhibition will feature artwork by 20 emerging Iranian artists identified from over 280 applicants through an online open call. Up to seven Finalists will be selected by the Judging Panel, comprised of leading figures from the Iranian and International art scenes. The 2015 judges are: Jananne Al-Ani, Artist, Dr. Sussan Babaie, Professor, Courtauld Institute of Art, Matthew Collings, Art Critic, Writer and Broadcaster, Isaac Julien, Visual artist and filmmaker, Professor Andrew Patrizio, Art Historian and Curator. Dr. Patrizio will act as the Chair of the 2015 Judging Panel. The shortlisted artists were chosen by the MOP CAP 2015 Selection Committee: Shiva Balaghi, Professor and Historian, Dr. Hamid Keshmirshekan, Art Historian, Critic, and Editor, and Sohrab Mohebbi, Curator and Writer. 2015 Shortlist Abdolreza Aminlari Azi Amiri Negar Jahanbakhsh Amirnasr Kamgooyan Nader Koochaki Shahrzad Malekian Nafise Mighani Hani Najm Pendar Nabipour Mahdieh Pazoki Farnaz Rabieijah Hamed Rashtian Mamali Shafahi Melika Shafahi Peyman Shafieezadeh Alma Sinai Sona Safaei-Sooreh Siavash Talaei Pezhman Zahed Mohsen Zare The 2015 Shortlist Exhibition will be inaugurated by HE Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, patron of the MOP Foundation, at the Exhibition Opening on Monday 16 March. That evening the Chair of the Judging Panel will announce the names of the 2015 Finalists. An exhibition of the Finalists’ artwork will be held in London in October 2015, at which time the judging panel will announce the Winner of MOP CAP 2015. The MOP CAP Winner receives a one-year mentorship with a London-based curator, resulting in a solo-project at a leading gallery space in London; as well as a three-month residency at the Delfina Foundation. Previous Winners of MOP CAP are Mahmoud Bakhshi (2009), Shirin Sabahi (2011), and Behnam Sadighi (2013). The first two artists were awarded a solo-exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, and the third winner at The Showroom, as well as a three-month residency at the Delfina Foundation, London. These Winners were selected by past MOP CAP Judging Panels, which have included Sheena Wagstaff, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Shirin Neshat, Zaha Hadid, Julia Peyton Jones, Abbas Kiarostami, Parviz Tanavoli, Irit Rogoff, and Matthew Collishaw to name a few.

The goal of the prize is to provide an opportunity for emerging artists to gain international exposure, and to engage in artistic experimentation and cultural exchange. The charity’s primary source of funding derives from the auction of artwork generously donated by established and emerging Iranian and international artists. Conducted by Christie’s and Sotheby’s, and held in Europe, the UAE and the US, the success of these fundraising events relies entirely on the participation and support of artists and patrons alike.
